SUMMARY:Mothership: A Memoir of Wonder and Crisis Book Tour with Greg Wrenn
DESCRIPTION:What part do psychedelic medicines have to play in healing our personal trauma–and our relationship to Mother Earth? \nJoin author Greg Wrenn and the Lancaster Psychedelic Society at Hempfield Apothetique for an intimate evening of storytelling\, psychedelic science\, and ecological exploration. Reading from his new eco-memoir Mothership\, Greg will discuss ayahuasca as a trauma medicine and an eco-sacrament for our uncertain times. \nWeaving together memoir and cutting-edge science\, Mothership is both a queer coming-of-age story and a deeply researched account of how coral reefs and ayahuasca helped Greg heal from complex PTSD–and awakened him to the need for us to heal the planet as well. Rick Doblin\, PhD called Mothership “a deeply moving roadmap through the intertwined destinies of individual well-being and the urgent need to heal our planet\,” and Rachel Harris\, PhD\, author of Listening to Ayahuasca\, said it’s “an important contribution to the growing field of psychedelic study.” Carine McCandless\, author of The Wild Truth\, the New York Times-bestselling follow-up to Into the Wild\, called it “a powerful testimonial and call to action to save the equal opportunity healer that is Mother Nature.” \nHighlights: \n\nExplore a healing paradigm possibly more powerful than many traditional therapeutic models\, and the role psychedelics can play in our time of widespread mental illness and the ongoing climate crisis.\nHear a well-crafted tale that weaves threads of memoir\, mental health struggles\, scientific research\, and a good-old-fashioned psychedelic adventure.\nGet your book signed! After a talk and discussion-based Q+A\, Greg Wrenn will sign copies of his book\, which will be on sale.\nConnect! As always\, we will have an opportunity afterwards to meet other like-minded individuals in our community\, and come away with new friends.\n\nAuthor Bio: A former Stegner Fellow at Stanford University\, Greg Wrenn is the author of Mothership: A Memoir of Wonder and Crisis\, an evidence-based account of his turning to ayahuasca and endangered coral reefs to heal from complex PTSD\, and Centaur\, which was awarded the Brittingham Prize in Poetry. His work has appeared in HuffPost\, The New Republic\, Al Jazeera\, Kenyon Review\, and elsewhere. As an associate English professor at James Madison University\, he weaves climate change science into literary studies. On his Mothership book tour\, he has spoken to audiences around the world\, including at Yale School of Medicine. Greg has also been on numerous podcasts\, including Levi Chambers’s PRIDE\, and was interviewed by Emmy Award-winning journalist Elizabeth Vargas. @gregjwrenn (Instagram)
